The sun hung low in the western sky, dusk was falling across the savanna, and many animals were preparing for their night time activities. She often found a sense of peace in these evening hours, her mind drifting back to a earlier time in her life. The breeze was cool across her fur as she walked slowly towards the Ghost Rocks. Many of the pride members thought that these rocks were haunted by the vengeful ghost of Taka. The Red King that had caused so much grief for the pride not so long ago. Sarabi had her doubts that his spirit remained here, but she came to look none the less. Even though he had ended up evil and tainted she did not wish him to suffer in his after life for those particular deeds. She was here for some time alone, a time to think about the future of the pride as a whole. Her son has a vendetta towards Scar and anyone that was loyal or family of his. Sarabi hated seeing her son so hateful and filled to brim with vengence but it was unchanging at least for now. Approaching the rocks the lioness climbed up onto the tallest rock and turned her gaze out onto the savanna.
In the distance she saw a large herd of zebra grazing, along with wildebeest and gemsbok. The lands had returned to a place of plenty and of paradise. She watched silently as the young animals played safe with their mothers and herds. The pride did not kill the young, pregnant, or herd leaders. It maintained a sense of balance and control and everyone seemed to be better for it. However she did know that Zira and her pride often ravaged the herds at night and would kill anyone that caught reguardless of age or health. She also knew that the Outsiders couldn't be picky if they desired to live. Sighing heavily the dusky feline turned her gaze upwards as she looked at the stars. A few of the brightest had already begun to shine, and she hoped for answers this evening.
She knew that this war was only just beginning, it started with the kidnapping of Kopa. He had been stolen so early in life and her son had assumed it was Zira that had done it. Sarabi had her doubts, sure the lioness was once the Queen and mated to Scar. That did not mean she was foolish enough to risk her families safety and lives. By stealing the crowned prince she put herself in the position to be executed.. she herself thought that it was someone else that had taken the prince. One of the hyenas that had been loyal to Scar.. coming back to cause more drama for the pride they loathed so much. Sarabi had tried to voice this theory to her son but he had been driven by hatred for Zira and had exiled her anyway.
Now the pride was split into two, fights happened constantly along the boundaries. Cubs would be harassed and hurt.. and yet nothing was changing. Her granddaughter Kiara had become friends with Kovu, the crowned prince of the Outsider pride. Much to Simba's disgust and worry.. Sarabi closed her eyes as a breeze ruffled her fur for a moment. If she tried hard enough she could almost smell her mate here with her.. opening her eyes again she looked back at the savanna. Though now it seemed Nala was pregnant with a second litter of cubs, and she new everyone was hoping for a male cub to take the throne when Simba stepped down. Sarabi was just hoping for healthy happy cubs to continue the line..
